MGNAREGA
The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, (MAHANREGA) was notified on September 7, 2005. The objective of the Act is to enhance livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
MGNREGA GOALS
Strong social safety net for the vulnerable groups by providing a fall-back employment source, when other employment alternatives are scarce or inadequate Growth engine for sustainable development of an agricultural economy. Through the process of providing employment on works that address causes of chronic poverty such as drought, deforestation and soil erosion, the Act seeks to strengthen the natural resource base of rural livelihood and create durable assets in rural areas. Effectively implemented, MGNAREGA has the potential to transform the geography of poverty Empowerment of rural poor through the processes of a rights-based Law
New ways of doing business, as a model of governance reform anchored on the principles of transparency and grass root democracy. Thus, MGNREGA fosters conditions for inclusive growth ranging from basic wage security and recharging rural economy to a transformative empowerment process of democracy
The Act was notified in Churu district in the thread phase with effect from April 1, 2008.
MGNREGA MIS (NREGASoft) Successful implementation of NREGA critically depends on the establishment and operationalization of a proper computer based Management Information System through an ICT network interconnecting all the Blocks& District. Taking forward the onus of crafting an efficient implementation of the NREGS, the NREGAsoft captures the information right from the registration of the worker. It includes separate pages for approximately 249 Gram Panchayats, 6 Blocks, Distric A transaction level work flow based web enabled MIS has been developed for National Rural Employment guarantee act (NREGA) and hosted at NREGA portal http://nrega.nic.in. The portal provides single point access to all stake holders of NREGA. This makes data transparent and available in public domain to be equally accessed by all.It provides linkages with the household survey known as BPL survey 2002 which captured information about each person and family in the rural area and provide unique id to them. So, rather than starting from scratch, the software is built on household survey.
